Our Friday will be hosted by STARTUPLAB and their fascinating focus as one of Scandinavia’s biggest “Incubators”. With mind-boggling angles on how to become a successful start-up, and inspiring speakers, we welcome you to a day of exciting content and a great opportunity to get your start-up on the right track from the go.
Everyone talks about how to utilise data to create successful businesses: In this talk Michael Conover Senior Data Scientist at LinkedIn, develops machine learning infrastructure that leverages the relationships and behaviour of hundreds of millions of individuals.
Conover will describe the role that information visualisation technologies play in the LinkedIn data science ecosystem, and explore best practices for understanding the structure of large-scale data in a production environment. From hypothesis generation and feature development to model evaluation and tooling, visualisation is at the heart of LinkedIn’s machine learning workflows, enabling our data scientists to reason and communicate more effectively. Broken down into clear, structured insights based on proven technology and workflow patterns, this talk will help you understand how to apply information visualisation to the analytical challenges you encounter every day.
Michael Conover is a Ph.D. candidate studying complex systems analysis at the Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing’s Center for Complex Networks and Systems Research. Blending large scale statistical analyses with media and political theory, Michael’s research explores the structure and dynamics of political communication in the digital age. Focused on issues relating to propaganda, polarisation and political knowledge discovery, his work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Science Magazine, Communications of the ACM and on National Public Radio.
