Drippin’s productions takes their cues from regional styles, moving from Southern rap to Jersey club and onwards to dancehall. His sounds evoke a kind of emotional gun violence in intense eight-bar moments. Like a vivid cut scene from a video game, a 3D rendition of a tropical rainforest in the middle of post-war Berlin. It only lasts so long before it’s thrown back to a viscous drip of masculine and feminine moments, combat boots and stilettos stumbling through city streets. Vocal samples shouting helplessly under a barrage of artillery fire, barely audible except when the beat reloads – only able to speak half-spoken words like enochian incantations. It’s a sound born out of the rainy surroundings of Bergen, Norway, the codeine-tinted sounds of southern rap and the unpredictability of the internet.
He’s produced tracks for well regarded underground rappers like Le1f (“Coins” and “Pocahontas”), and the Norwegian rap act Yoguttene, who he also DJs for at their live shows. In 2013 he also produced and co-produced two tracks on Lars Vaulars “1001 Hjem”, “Koking” and “Den første var den siste”.
His music has received support from acts like Nguzunguzu, Fatima Al Qadiri, Dubbel Dutch, Bok Bok, Slimzee and many more. This international acclaim has led to shows outside Norway and an upcoming EP at the New York-based label Lit City Trax.
