There had long been rumors in Bergen’s underground about Girl Army, Sondre Haug (vox) and guitarist Woody Haugland’s first venture back into the realms of hardcore after the demise of Social Suicide. They are joined by mastermind of rock Yngve Andersen and Sigurd Håkås from Blood Command on guitar and drums, with Kjetil Grimsby Haarr from Fjorden Baby! completing their ranks on punk bass guitar. They are all experienced musicians and songwriters in their own respective rights, and have come together through their shared love of hardcore, les fromages fraiçais and extreme lifestyle.
The band has only played a few selected shows so far. Amongst others, they’ve headlined Mikal Telle’s “Den Elleville Festen” along with bands like Ungdomskulen, Lemaitre, Deathcrush and Kakkamaddafakka. The band has one release so far, the somewhat epic EP “Negative” which came out in Oxtober 2012 and was warmly received by reviewers in Metal Hammer and Ksrikzine .
Musically, Girl Army is hardcore built on the foundations of art, noise, performance, black metal and pig slaughter. Shows are known to be rumbustious affairs, unpredictable, boisterous, unruly even, and it is on the back of this burgeoning reputation the band continues to grow and grow.
