Since rumours started swirling about a year ago about Truls Heggero’s genre flirtation and solo project, much has happened. Before Christmas last year, he was booked for Øya and by:Larm, and in connection with the latter he released the first single “Out Of Yourself”. A new sound that is positioned at the intersection between indie rock and urban, with Truls’ distinctive falsetto. It is not pure R&B as first expected, it has hints of urban pop music with electronic elements while keeping firmly in the organic universe in which we first became acquainted with Truls. The forest and the sea meet the drum machine.
Whatever label – there is no doubt that Truls’ new tunes will be well received . “Out Of Yourself” established itself as a hit through the spring, and has attracted attention far beyond our borders. Throughout 2013, Truls worked hard together with producers Mats Lie Skåre and Thomas Eriksen in the studio to complete his solo album. The public has become familiar with “Out Of Yourself” and the second single “The Next” through radio and extensive festival summer – and now is the time to introduce listeners to the rest of Truls’ and producers’ musical world.
The title of the album – “TRVLS” – pronounced travels, accounting for what Truls is – both musically and personally.
