Speaker: Max Lachmann (Avalanche Studios)
Known for their vast and open game worlds in the “Just Cause” series, Avalanche have developed their own techniques to create a believable and dynamic soundscape in this genre of games that have very different requirements than the more linear and cinematic games.
Lachmann has been working in this swedish studio since the start, and knows the story of the road they have travelled very well. The studio is one of the few big ones that’s still independent, and a few years back they established an office in New York. 2014 will see the release of the “Mad Max” game, and there will probably more “Just Cause” releases. Last year, Avalanche embarked on an inspirational trip to tropic Costa Rica to collect raw materials for the games they are currently developing (article in norwegian).
